Hi! Our Free tenant shows the “Regular Active Users has exceeded your plan limit” banner. The usage page measures us against a 7,000 user quota, but the Subscription tab says our plan includes 25,000 users. Looks like the usage quota wasn’t updated to the new Free limit. Could someone fix the quota on our tenant? Happy to share the tenant name by DM. Thanks!
Hi @mdoverhag
Welcome to the Auth0 Community!
You are reporting that your Free tenant shows the “Regular Active Users has exceeded your plan limit” banner, because the Usage page measures against a 7,000-user quota while the Subscription tab lists 25,000 users, and you are asking for the quota to be corrected.
Summary: In September 2024, Auth0 officially upgraded its Free Plan tier limit, increasing the Monthly Active User (MAU) quota from 7,500 MAUs to 25,000 MAUs .
However, many legacy Free tier tenants that were created before this update (when the limit was 7,000 or 7,500 MAUs) did not have their backend database quotas automatically migrated to the new 25,000 MAU threshold. This leaves your account in a state where:
-
The billing/subscription system correctly identifies your plan as the new Free Plan (25k limit) .
-
The real-time gatekeeping system on your usage dashboard is still evaluating your traffic against your legacy 7,000 / 7,500 limit, triggering the “Regular Active Users has exceeded your plan limit” warning banner.
Solution: Open a Support ticket so the entitlement is checked against your subscription record and corrected if needed.
- Open a ticket through the Okta Support Center at support.okta.com, and select the Auth0 product category for the tenant.
- Include the tenant name, the account owner’s email address, and screenshots of both the Usage page and the Subscription tab, with the dates they were captured.
- State the plan you believe you are on and the external active user entitlement you expect, so Support can confirm it against your contract or plan record.
- Avoid posting the tenant name or account details in this community thread. Share them only through the Support ticket or a direct message with Support.
- Note how the banner affects your tenant while the ticket is open. The Free plan’s policy generally blocks creation of new users above the limit, and existing users can still sign in. Confirm the current behavior with Support when you open the ticket.
Since you are on a free plan an unable to open a support ticket yourself, please send us a DM to the @support group with the tenant name and Auth0 email address associated with it.
Kind Regards,
Nik
