Use tenant friend name in Authenticator Apps not the org name

We have the following setup:

  1. The organizations name is set to ‘Foo Corp’
  2. Our friendly tenant name is set to ‘Bar’
  3. In the authenticator app the name is shown as ‘Foo Corp’ when setting up MFA

The obvious issue is the user already has an entry for ‘Foo Corp’ and when saving the authenticator for our app they need to rename ‘Foo Corp’ which they often fail to do and hence get very confused what code to use.

It needs to be set as our friendly tenant name not the organizations name, is there not a way to do this?

Hi @david53,

We have a related community post that explains how to set your tenant’s friendly name when using the MFA authenticator apps.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

@rueben.tiow as I outlined in my post we have set the tenant friendly name as our company name and yet the organisation name shows as the name in the authenticator app.

Hi @david53,

Thanks for the reply.

This seems to happen only when using Organizations where the authenticator apps use the organization name over the tenant-friendly name.

For the moment, we suggest changing the display name in your organization settings to the name that you prefer, possibly a combination of the org name and tenant name.

It could also be helpful to submit a Feedback request asking to support this feature with details about your use case.

Thanks,
Rueben
