Reset MFA

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some help with an Auth0 MFA issue.

I have an end-user account protected with an authenticator app (TOTP). I recently changed my phone and no longer have access to my old authenticator app. Unfortunately, I also don’t have the recovery codes or the original secret key, so I’m unable to complete MFA and log in.

Our tenant administrator tried to help, but they don’t see a “Reset Multi-factor” option for my user in the Auth0 Dashboard.

Has anyone encountered this before?

  • The account is an end user, not an Auth0 Dashboard administrator.
  • MFA is Authenticator (TOTP).
  • I believe we’re on an Enterprise plan.
  • The admin cannot find any option to reset or remove the MFA enrollment.

Is there anyway to reset it

Hi @nomanhanif.culturate

Welcome to the Auth0 Community!

The tenant administrator should be able to reset the MFA for Tenant Login under the Auth0 Dashboard. They will need to go to:
Settings - > Tenant Members → … Symbol → Reset MFA

If you are having trouble accessing your Auth0 account due to MFA and not the tenant itself, please send us a DM to the @support group with the email address associated with the account and the name of the tenant.

Otherwise, if the tenant is under an enterprise plan, on of your admin should be able to submit a ticket through our support site.

Kind Regards,
Nik
