I’ve configured a custom SMTP email provider in my tenant and enabled the setting:
“Use my own email provider — Route all emails that are part of Auth0’s authentication workflows through a high-volume email service.”
However, when using Passwordless Email login with send: "link", the emails are still being sent from root@auth0.com, not my configured SMTP or sender identity.
This breaks email deliverability (especially with corporate firewalls), hurts our branding, and directly contradicts the expectation set by that setting.
I need you to:
Confirm whether Passwordless magic link emails can be routed through my SMTP provider.
Enable this behavior on my tenant if it is currently disabled by default.
Explain Auth0’s intended long-term support for SMTP in Passwordless flows under New Universal Login.
This behavior cost me real time in a production context. If there’s a tenant-level flag or workaround available (e.g., whitelisting, Actions override), please advise immediately.
Thank you for posting your question. In the Passwordless setting you need to set the From email address that is registered as a Sender Identity with Sendgrid.
To answer your 3rd point, there are no plans to drop the support for the SMTP in the Universal Login. If you have any other question regarding this topic, drop them I will do my best to get the answers for you!
Thank you for your response, I got this resolved with your help. I was looking for a passwordless template under Branding > Email Templates. But I went to Authentication → Passwordless → Configure → Settings → From
