NPM Packages in editor fail to install (queue appears stuck?)

Based on the Network tab in Chrome it looks to me like the queue runner that supports’s npm package installs has failed or locked up or something. I’m unable to install any new packages on existing or new webtasks and the request that polls for the status of the install returns a status of “queued” for about 30-60 seconds before finally returning a status of “failed.”
