Migrating from B2C Professional to B2B to enable Enterprise (SAML) Connections

Hi all, hoping someone from Auth0 or the community can clarify our path forward.

Our setup

  • Healthcare SaaS, production tenant on B2C Professional
  • One enterprise customer needs SAML SSO in production
  • Staging works because the dev tenant has the free 1 Enterprise Connection allowance
  • Production shows an “upgrade your plan” warning when we try to add a SAML connection

What we understand from the pricing page

  • Enterprise Connections are not included on any B2C plan
  • B2B Professional at ~$800/month includes ~5 Enterprise Connections, which fits our needs
  • We do not need the Enterprise plan SKU

What is unclear and blocking us

  1. Can our existing B2C Professional tenant be converted to a B2B SKU in place, or is B2B a different tenant type that requires a fresh tenant and full migration?
  2. If migration is required, does Auth0 offer any tenant-conversion assistance? We would be looking at re-importing users, re-registering all applications with new client IDs and secrets, redoing a custom domain DNS cutover, and rebuilding Actions, email templates, and branding. That is a heavy lift for a paying customer who just wants SAML.
  3. Is there an Auth0 PM or sales engineer who can confirm the above before we commit to either path? Sales has been quiet, and the no-reply support address is the only response we have received so far.

Any pointers from others who have made this jump would be hugely helpful.

Hi @azratechlead

Welcome to the Auth0 Community!

You are correct when it comes to the details found on our Pricing page and I would be happy to provide some information with regards to the other points that you raised:

You can manage your tenant’s subscription from the Dashboard or Team page and change it from B2C Professional to B2B, for more details please refer to our Manage Subscriptions - Auth0 Docs documentation. The subscription type does not depend on any tenant specifics, as any tenant can be upgraded or downgraded to all subscription tiers.

Migration steps are not required in this case, only the subscription change itself is needed for B2B features to be active on your tenant.

As your tenant is under a B2C subscription, I warmly recommend submitting a Support case from the Support Center → Tickets to get in touch with our internal team who will be able to guide you through any strategic or technical questions in order to decide on the best subscription type for your current requirements.

Hope this helped!
