Is liquid syntax supported in email subjects

Hi,

We would like to support mutli-language emails where the email subject will also change for different languages.
We can use the liquid syntax in the email template body.
But can we use it in email subject?
For example - for English users email subject will be “Hi”, but for Spanish the email subject should be “Hola” and for Chinese it should be “你好”
