Connecting Gmail for the SMTP custom email provider - no more support for less secure apps

Hi,

I’m trying to configure gmail as email provider but less secure apps is no longer supported, or will stop being supported soon.

From Google admin console:
“Starting in Summer of 2024, Google Workspace accounts will no longer support less secure apps, which ask you to sign in to your Google Account with your username and password. To access platform-specific and third-party apps, you must use OAuth. To prepare for this change, visit Transition from less secure apps to OAuth - Google Workspace Admin Help

Please advice on how I get configure gmail with OAuth as email provider as I couldn’t find any docs on the subject.

Thanks

Hi @moria

Welcome to the Auth0 Community!

Thank you for posting your question. As we can’t control Google’s decision to deprecate less secure apps, your Gmail SMTP setup should remain functional as long as your application isn’t classified as ‘less secure.’

Currently, our system only supports SMTP connections to Google using basic authentication. We strongly recommend using a professional email provider like those we integrate with for production environments, as they offer enhanced security and reliability.

Thanks
Dawid
