Microsoft Azure AD - lock - sign up issue

We have added a “Microsoft Azure AD” connection to our account, when logging in this works fine and creates a user as expected.

However, on the sign up screen it hides the username & password fields once you enter the email (as I would expect), but the sign up button does nothing and no console errors. When you remove the email, the username & password fields are highlighted: “Can’t be blank”

I would expect the same kind of behaviour as the social logins/signup. ie. signup would process in the same way as login. Is this an issue or expected behaviour?

nb. this happens with the default login/lock and the Customized Login Page
