How to Recover Access to a Tenant or Team Account

Overview

This article is used to troubleshoot and recover access to a lost tenant or team account. This scenario often happens when the existing admin (usually the sole admin on the tenant), an employee or contractor, leaves an organization without delegating access to another employee.

There are a few steps to regain control of the tenant or team account without the need for help from Auth0.

  • If access to the former admin’s email alias is available, request a password reset through the login page and reset the password for the account.

  • If another admin is on the tenant, they can remove the old admin and add a new admin. It is a good idea to have multiple admins on a tenant to prevent loss of access.

These solutions will not work if the old admin was the only admin on the tenant, and their account was protected with MFA that is not accessible.

Submit a Request

If access to the tenant or team account cannot be gained using these strategies, a support request with Auth0 must be created. After verification of tenant ownership, access can be granted. Select from one of the below options.

  1. Email community@auth0.com
  2. Login to community.auth0.com and create a support request by sending a direct message to @support with the information below.

Provide the following information in your message.

  • A detailed explanation of the issue
  • Tenant or team account name
  • Associated email for locked out tenant or team account

One of the Community staff will validate the request and create a support ticket on your behalf.
