Clarification on Auth0 Free Plan Connection Limits & Account Linking

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some clarification around connection limits on the Auth0 Free plan, based on the Entity Limits documentation.

From the docs, I noticed:

https://auth0.com/docs/troubleshoot/customer-support/operational-policies/entity-limit-policy

  • Under Global Subscription Plan Limits, it mentions: Connections per Organization: 10

  • Under Free Plan limits, it mentions: Connections: up to 100

Given this, I’d appreciate clarification on the following:

1. Maximum Connections per Tenant

  • If Organizations are not being used, what is the effective maximum number of connections allowed per tenant on the Free plan?
  • Should the limit be interpreted as up to 100 connections per tenant, or does the “Connections per Organization: 10” limit apply even when Organizations are not in use?

2. Connection Type Breakdown

  • Is the connection limit enforced as a single aggregate count across all connection types, or are there any specific limits per type (Database, Passwordless, Social, Enterprise)?

3. Account Linking on Free Tier

  • Is account linking between multiple connections within a single tenant supported on the Free plan?

Thanks in advance for any clarification or pointers to official documentation.

Hi @brijesh.bhalodiya

Welcome to the Auth0 Community!

Thank you for reaching out to us, allow me to answer your questions and provide more details:

  • The limits mentioned under Global Subscription Plan Limits are imposed across all subscription plans, whereas other limits are specific according to the plan. In this way, on a free plan you can have up to 100 Connections ( regardless if you are using Organizations or not) and when it comes to Connections per Organizations, the limit is 10. As such, you can set up 100 Connections in your Auth0 tenant and for each Organization, you can enable up to 10 Connections;
  • You can check the limits for each Connection type on our Pricing page, but among the limit of 100 Connections represents the sum of all Connections configured on your tenant;

Please do not hesitate to reach out to us for any other issues or concerns!

Hope this helped,
