I am logged in as admin for my tenant. If I try to add a new member in the page https://manage.auth0.com/dashboard/eu/my-tenant-name/tenant/admins, I do not see the button “Invite a Member”. Instead, I see “Heads up!Tenant Members can only be added through Teams.”
If I click on “Teams”, I get redirected to a page where I select my tenant, and then I get the message:
“You are not allowed to see the information on this page because you are not an account administrator.”
However, I already am an administrator.
If I try the same on another tenant, I can add new members successfully, so I do not think I am doing something wrong.
Reading through your use-case, I do believe that what might be happening here is the following, but please let me know if it’s not the case:
the tenant where you are having this issue is part of a Team, but the other tenant where you are able to add tenant members might not be;
your tenant has the Manage tenant members option checked, which moves the option to add tenant members from the tenant’s dashboard to the Teams’ dashboard. You can read more on this matter in our following documentation on Tenant Member Management;
it is likely that you are a tenant Admin, but your Role in the Team does not grant your access to manage the tenant members.
If the above is correct, then what you are seeing is expected, as I suspect that you do not have the Teams Owner role. This role grants general Admin access to the tenant that the user is a part of, among which the ability to add tenant members.
In order to be granted this access, you will need to reach out to the person/s with the Team Owner role and ask they grant you the same role, or have them invite tenant members. We do recommend having at least two Team Owners in every Team, the same way we recommend multiple tenant Administrators.
The Team Owner will likely be another Admin of the tenant in question, which does provide a way for you to determine who could have this role. Once you are granted this role, you should be able to add other tenant members without any issues.
If my tenant is part of a team, how can I see who the Team Owner is?
It seems I cannot even see the other team members, if I go to https://accounts.auth0.com/teams/my-team-name/tenants (and, by the way, I have to log in every time I visit the page, even if I am already logged in).
This is very strange, since I created the Auth0 account, and I do not remember setting up a Team.
The link that you provided would be the correct place to see the all of the Teams’ details, depending on your role. Within that dashboard on the left side, you likely only see a tab for Tenants, but as showcased in the image from the following documentation, there should be additional tabs, among which one for Members as well.
Lacking that tab and access, you would not really have a way of seeing the Team members, only the users with the Team Owner role likely has access to that tab. I do recommend accessing your tenant ( the one where you cannot add other members), see who is set as a Tenant Admin and reach out to them to check if they are a Team Owner. If you are not successful or the person you suspect is the Owner is no longer with the company, please send a DM ( Direct Message ) to our @support inbox, mentioning the issue that you are facing and linking this Topic for the entire context.
We can pick up the conversation from there and look into what can be done to grant you access to the Team and this way, access to inviting other tenant members.
