Universal Login Liquid Template Parsing Bugs

I’m having some issues where some of the tenants I have are behaving differently than the others, and it appears to be a bug. As far as I can tell, multi-line expressions are not being parsed at all and instead are showing up in the HTML output of the universal login page.

This is breaking some functionality, and we had no heads up to be on the lookout for it.

Please provide some additional details on this service issue.

Example of the type of expression that is no longer being parsed on some tenants:

<link rel="icon" href="{{
  application.metadata.some_test
}}" sizes="16x16"/>

Hi @BryceAW

Welcome back to the Auth0 Community!

I am sorry about the delayed response to your inquiry!

I can see that you have submitted a support ticket regarding the matter. As far as I can see, this issue appears to be caused by the fact that the webtask_page_template_rendering flag was enabled on your tenant which deprecates webtask as a liquid rendering engine. The rollout of this new liquid rendering engine appears to depracate mulit-line liquid expressions.

I will be marking this reply as the solution in order for the topic to be closed.

I would recommend continuing troubleshooting the issue with the designated support engineer and if you have any other questions, let us know!

Kind Regards,
Nik

Do you have a link to the official communication about this change so the Auth0 community can know what the breaking changes are?

At this time, there is no official communication regarding the matter, once all the updates/changes about the new rendering engine take effect and reach general availability, I will make sure to leave a new reply on the topic containing all necessary information on how it might affect HTML Liquid Templates.

Kind Regards,
Nik
