Request for Auth0/Okta review of access restrictions from Syria after US export-control changes

Hi Auth0 community! :waving_hand:t2:

I’m currentling using Auth0 as the auth provider for my app, but I’m getting reports that users located in Syria appear to be blocked from using their social credentials (Apple - Google) to access the application.

I do understand that Auth0/Okta would apply these restrictions due to the US export-control and sanctions requirements. However, US restrictions to Syria have changed recently and other developer platforms such as GitHub, did announce that their services have been renabled and broaded access have been granted back for developeres based in Syria.

Could someone from Auth0/Okta please clarify whether access from Syria is still blocked at the Auth0 platform level, and if so, is there any ongoing reviews of that situation.

Thank!

Hi @rasheedkmozaffar,

Welcome to the Auth0 Community!

Thank you for reaching out and for your understanding regarding our compliance to the U.S. export-control.

Please allow me a bit more time to try and gather a few more pieces of information on the matter.

In the meanwhile, we strongly recommend checking out our official support article, which is consistently updated - Sanctioned Country Access through Auth0, that provides a FAQ section, as this might still answer a few of your questions.

Thank you!
Best regards,
Remus

Hi @rasheedkmozaffar,

I am reaching out with an update here.

To clarify the current situation, Auth0, as part of Okta, continues to restrict access from sanctioned countries, including Syria. Our policies are subject to constant reviews to stay in accordance with U.S. regulations, but for now the approach remains the same.

For organizations that have legal authorization to operate in these regions, we offer an exemption process. You can apply by completing our exemption request form.

For future reference, I would recommending reviewing our Sanctioned Country Traffic Blocked by Auth0 article, since it is constantly refreshed to include the most up-to-date information.

Thank you!
Best regards,
Remus
