Welcome to November, which means we look back to October!
New Show Your Auth0
As some of you may know, we have a Show Your Auth0 category for community members to share the things they’re working on using Auth0. This month we had the following new submissions:
- @jbreckmckye1 created an NPM module to support authentication with Electron.js.
- @jlannoy released an Auth0 module for the Ninja Framework.
Make sure to check them out!
Forum Tips
Forums are tricky things sometimes, with each platform often having different ways of interacting. In order to help you navigate through the Auth0 Community, we’ve compiled a few tips:
Know your post options
There are a number of cool things you can do with a post, whether it’s yours or someone else’s. At the bottom of your post you’ll see the following:
From left-to-right they are:
- share a link to this post
- privately flag the post for attention from a staff member (like if it’s spam, abusive, etc.)
- edit this post (allows you to edit your post up to 7 days after you post it by default)
- bookmark this post (puts it into your profile as a bookmarked post so you can come back to it)
- delete post (you can request that your post be deleted)
At the bottom of other’s posts you’ll see a few extras (again, from left-to-right):
- select if this reply solves the problem (THIS one is awesome and really helps the community out! If someone’s post solves the problem for you, make sure you select this!)
- like this post (ANOTHER really cool action which lets others know that you appreciated the post and that it was helpful. This also tells the poster that they were being helpful!)
- share a link to this post
- privately flag the post for attention from a staff member (like if it’s spam, abusive, etc.)
- bookmark this post (puts it into your profile as a bookmarked post so you can come back to it)
Note that a few of these help the broader community and contribute to badges and community rewards.
Know your notifications
Whenever you’re logged in you can receive notifications which will display on your profile pic in the top right-hand of the window. If you select your picture you’ll then get a list of notifications, replies, etc. that you can then deal with.
Another thing that you can enable, which can come in handy, is the Live Notifications option in your Profile, Preferences section:
This will then issue a popup browser notification whenever you get a notification in the forum.
Know the helpful @Discobot
Included with Discourse is a helpful bot called Discobot. When you first signed up, you probably noticed that you received a PM from Discobot welcoming you. If you didn’t go through the New User forum training, you can kickstart it back up by sending a DM to Discobot with @discobot new user
and @discobot advanced user
in the body of the message. You’ll proceed to get a few DM’s with tips and tricks for using the forum, as well as a few badges to go along with it!
