Feature request: add option for case sensitive username

Hello,

I would like to submit a feature request for an option to make the username case sensitive (i.e. so that the value is not converted to all lowercase). As far as I understand this is not possible out of the box. I found this thread that talks about saving the original case sensitive username to the user metadata, but this adds un-wanted complexity. As indicated in this other thread it appears there are others who want/require this functionality, so I wanted to submit an official feature request for it. Please advise as to how I do this.
