Existing username , wrong error message

If a user tries creating an account with existing username but with unique email, the user gets an error message saying “Email address already in use. Must enter another email address to proceed.”

I have tested this on my side and found the same observations as you, but received a different error message.

In my tests, when I created a user that used an existing username or email address, the page would return the “Something went wrong” error message.

This is expected behavior because usernames and email addresses are immutable.
