Enterprise Tenant -- Rate Limited SMS with Twilio as Delivery Provider

We’re getting “You have exceeded the maximum number of phone messages per hour. Wait a few minutes and try again” even though we have an enterprise plan and have added Twilio as our delivery provider. Could you please explain why we’re getting this?

We are trying to provide a reply and information to older posts, in case others encounter the same situation/issue and it can help.

The error message that you have received relates to the Rate Limit exceeded for the number of SMS messages sent for Multifactor Authentication, which is set to 10 SMS messages on your device per hour. Eventhough this is done through an external provider, Twilio in this case, the same limitation if set in order to protect the services against too many request and also to protect the customer from degradations and disruptions of services and cannot be changed.
