Feature: Custom Log Tagging for Improved Regional Compliance and Filtering
Description: We are currently managing Auth0 logs within Datadog, but we’re encountering challenges due to the limited tagging options. At present, logs include a tag for the tenant name, but there is no way to differentiate between tenants based on their region or other key attributes. This limitation makes it difficult to effectively filter and analyze logs when managing multiple tenants across different regions.
An enhancement that allows users to add custom tags to logs, such as the region of the tenant or other critical metadata, would significantly improve log management. This capability would provide more granular filtering options in Datadog, making it easier to monitor and troubleshoot issues specific to a region or tenant. For example, being able to filter logs by both tenant name and region simultaneously would help quickly pinpoint regional issues or performance bottlenecks.
Additionally, this feature would help fulfill regional data compliance requirements. For instance, organizations operating in regions with stringent data privacy laws, such as the EU or Japan, would benefit from the ability to easily segregate and monitor logs based on regional criteria, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
Use-case: We are building a multi-tenant system where each tenant operates in different regions. The ability to tag logs with additional metadata such as the tenant’s region would streamline our log analysis process in Datadog. This feature would enhance our ability to monitor the health and performance of each tenant’s environment more effectively, ensure compliance with regional data privacy laws, and lead to faster issue resolution and better overall system reliability.
