Does Biometrics require Import Mode with a custom database connection?

According to the prerequisites listed on this page:

  1. If you use a custom database connection, ensure Import Mode is set to On. If it’s not, you can run the getUser script to the same effect.

I’m not sure what “If it’s not, you can run the getUser script to the same effect” means. Does that mean there’s a way to have biometrics usable while having import mode turned off?

With the getUser script implemented, we’re running into issues where we meet all the prerequisites but biometrics is never an option to sign in with. Users are prompted to setup biometrics but susequent logins only allow passwords.

Hello!
If Import Mode is not set to On, you can use the getUser script to achieve the same effect." This means the getUser script can fetch user data similarly to Import Mode being on, but it doesn’t imply biometrics can work with Import Mode off. Ensure Import Mode is on or the getUser script is correctly implemented, and check your biometric setup process and authentication flow. If issues persist, review logs and contact support for help.
