Christina: Tell us a bit about your journey. What brought you to the world of community engineering, and what’s a typical day like for you?
Dex: I began my career as a Python backend engineer at a small Wrocław startup, but I quickly realized I wanted more client-facing interaction rather than purely behind-the-scenes development. When a Product Advocate role opened up, I seized the chance to bridge the gap between engineering and customer success. A year later, I joined Okta - an opportunity I couldn’t pass up - and for the past two years, I’ve been embedded in the Auth0 Community, helping users solve problems, sharing best practices, and feeding real-world feedback back to our product teams.
A typical day for me looks like this:
-
Reviewing new posts on community.auth0.com to prioritize urgent issues.
-
Jumping into threads where users are stuck—whether it’s configuration, SDK quirks, or integration questions.
-
Developing knowledge-base articles, planning AMAs, and coordinating with marketing on community events.
This blend of technical problem-solving, customer advocacy, and strategic collaboration is what makes community engineering so rewarding for me.
Christina: What’s one aspect of your work that you find particularly rewarding, and how does it connect to your personal values?
Dex: One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is the constant context-switching and the opportunity to tackle a wide variety of problems; no two days are the same. One moment I’m troubleshooting an SDK integration, the next I’m researching a brand-new authentication protocol or drafting best-practice guidance.
This rapid pace feeds my core values of curiosity and continuous growth. I thrive on learning new technologies and approaches, and on applying that knowledge to help others.
Christina: Moving along, what simple action can a community member take to contribute to a positive and supportive community environment?

Christina: What’s one thing you’ve learned about online communities that you think everyone should know
Dex: One key lesson I’ve learned is the incredible longevity of community contributions: even years after a question is asked, someone will sometimes dig up that old thread and post a deep, up-to-date solution.
Christina: Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
Dex: Outside of work, I’m a bit of a nerd at heart: I love gathering with friends for Dungeons & Dragons and other tabletop RPGs, gearing up my characters in POE, or being locked in the Escape Rooms. On Saturdays, I’m renovating my flat in a 120-year-old tenement house by myself. I also stay tuned to the latest LLM releases and AI tools.
Thanks for sharing, Dex! Stay tuned because we have a few more community engineers to feature!
