Top Five Highlights from the Auth0 Community Ask Me Anything: Universal Login

Our recent Auth0 Community Ask Me Anything on Universal Login sparked great conversations and brought forward some insightful questions. If you weren’t able to join us, don’t worry! Here are the top five highlights from the online event. You can also dive into the full discussion and get detailed answers from our product experts by checking out the thread here.

  • Customizing Universal Login:

A lot of you are looking for ways to tailor your login and signup screens, and we’re happy to say that you can easily add custom HTML, CSS, and JavaScript through custom prompts. If you want even more control and flexibility, consider using Forms to create entirely new screens for these flows. For step-by-step guidance, check out the detailed docs!

  • Managing Customizations:

Managing your customizations just got easier! With the Auth0 CLI, you can launch a simple browser-based UI by running the command auth0 universal-login customize. This will let you directly edit and preview your changes to themes, page layouts, and more before rolling them out to your tenant.

  • Localization of Custom Elements:

When it comes to localization, you can now create custom text variables within your page templates and prompt partials. For example, if you need to localize the Terms of Service checkbox text, it’s super simple to do. Here’ s an in-depth article to guide you through the process.

  • Universal Login vs. Classic Login:

We’ve heard questions about the differences between Universal Login and Classic Login. Auth0 tenants can run in various modes, including Classic Login only, Universal Login only, or a Hybrid of both. It’s important to know which mode your tenant is using, as this impacts your features and customization options. You can easily check and switch modes in the Universal Login Advanced Settings in the management dashboard. Check out this article to learn more.

  • Roadmap & Upcoming Features:

We’ve also heard a lot of interest around staying on top of new features, and we want to keep you informed! For example, we’re aware of an issue in Passwordless Authentication where users are not shown an error message when access is denied during pre-registration actions. This will be addressed in 2025 as part of a broader update that merges Passwordless and Database connections to improve the experience.
