Single Connection Mapped to Multiple Organizations

Overview

This article addresses the situation in which a SAML connection is in use and a user from this connection wants to be part of more than one organization.

Solution

A given user (from a specific connection) can be part of one or more organizations. This also means a single connection can be enabled in more than one organization.

Users from a given SAML connection will be able to access multiple organizations, assuming it has been enabled in each.

If Auto-Membership is enabled, a user trying to log in to a specific organization will automatically be added as a member of that organization. This is an organization-specific setting, so Auto-Membership of the SAML connection can be turned on in one organization but disabled in another. When a user from that connection logs in to an organization that has auto-membership enabled, they will automatically get membership in that one—but not the other organizations.
