Passwordless emails are lost in "conversation" groupings

Problem statement

we notice a lot of users are clicking old expired passwordless links because all their passwordless emails are grouped into one conversation in their email inbox.

Is there some approach you recommend to keeping emails distinct and helping users identify the most current email to click?

Symptoms

By default, emails from the same account are grouped in a “conversation”.

Solution

The first suggestion will be that this functionality is already provided by the user email provider, for example, in Gmail, and you can change this by following the instructions here: Group emails into conversations - Computer - Gmail Help.

Another solution will be to change the “from” address slightly with each email by appending a timestamp to the address, e.g., <support+12345@company.com>. This is possible in the passwordless email template available from the Auth0 console.
