ELI5: What counts as an "Enterprise Connection"?

Hello! Was wondering what counts as an enterprise connection? We have set up only one Azure AD (multi tenant) connection, we’ve gotten log ins from 3 different domains through it (1 internal, 2 beta test clients) + a couple of users with the email field saying (empty), we’ve received an email saying we have exceeded our quota of 3 enterprise connections;

  1. I’m not entirely sure if the empty email users counted, did they?
  2. Are our only option from here upgrading to a different plan with more connections?
  3. Can we delete the internal users to free up a slot?

Thanks!

Correction: It was actually only two domains we’ve got log ins from using this Azure AD connection, which makes it more puzzling for us

Hi @,

Welcome to the Auth0 Community!

The enterprise connections are the connections you make inside the Auth0 dashboard. One single Azure AD connection is classified as one enterprise connection. If you were to create other enterprise connections inside the dashboard, such as a Google Workspace one, those would add up to the quota, but having users sign up to your app does not add to your connections.

You mentioned your Azure AD connection is multi-tenant. Do you have three different tenants for development, testing, and production? If you do, that is probably the reason you received this warning. If you’re not planning on creating other connections, you shouldn’t need to upgrade to a different plan.

If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out.

Have a good one,
Vlad
