Custom rule - set password expiration

Looks like there is no current support to set expiration on user password but can be archived using custom rule. Unfortunately I could not find any attribute per se on user to set up password expiration. Does anyone have reference to rule code to do the same. Currently, the requirement is set expiration for temp passwords.
