Cannot Enable Passkey for Custom Database

Overview

This article explains if it is possible to enable Passkeys after a custom database has been configured for use with a tenant, the migration of users to Auth0 is complete, and the database has been disconnected, as described in Disconnect external user store

Cause

It is not possible to disable Use my own database, even after the user migration is complete.

Solution

Passkeys are not currently supported for use with custom databases with import mode disabled (i.e., Legacy Authentication).

However, custom databases with import mode enabled can enable Passkeys. See here for more information on import mode:

Please note that “requires username” will still need to be disabled:
