This topic from the beginning of this year indicated support for RFC 8693 was in progress, but I haven’t seen any update or announcement about it since then.

Yes, you are correct. There was some exploratory work done earlier this year but it was suspended. This was primarily due to shifting priorities.
At the moment, there are no clear plans to support RFC8693. However, at this moment in time, the Product team will no doubt be thinking about what to include on the roadmap for 2021.
With that thought in mind, I strongly recommend that you submit a feature request via our Customer Feedback Auth0: Secure access for everyone. But not just anyone. page.
